Taking over where CarSync left off, for Turo hosts
CarSync helped Turo hosts with guest messages, toll reimbursements and Tesla Supercharger costs. Turo closed its API to third-party services like CarSync from April 30, 2023, and carsync.io now points to FleetSync, built for larger fleet operations.
DriveIt picks up the day-to-day Turo work, and adds check-ins, payouts, profit per car and your own booking site. It works through Turo's co-host role, not an API, and is free for the rest of 2026. DriveIt is independent: it isn't affiliated with CarSync or FleetSync.
What happened to CarSync
From the sources at the bottom of this page, read on November 7, 2026.
- April 11, 2023TechCrunch reports that Turo emailed hosts it would block third-party services, CarSync and Fleetwire among them, starting April 30, 2023. CarSync said it then hosted about 40,000 Turo vehicles.
- April 2023CarSync told TechCrunch it would focus on companies that rent cars to Uber drivers, and was thinking about a product for smaller fleets under the CarSync name.
- November 7, 2026carsync.io is a single note that speaks of CarSync in the past tense and says the team is now focused on FleetSync, “infrastructure for larger, more complex fleet operations.”
DriveIt has no connection to CarSync or FleetSync. We wrote this page because Turo hosts still search for CarSync.
What CarSync did, and what DriveIt does now
CarSync's side is what hosts and CarSync described to TechCrunch in April 2023.
| CarSync (2023) | DriveIt | |
|---|---|---|
| Guest messages | Automated messages that hosts called more reliable and varied than Turo's own | Turo conversations in the DriveIt inbox, with your replies going back to Turo. Scheduled messages you write go out before and after each trip |
| Tolls | Automated collection of toll reimbursements and receipts | Upload the notice, AI matches it to the trip, and you post it to Turo with the notice attached |
| Tesla Supercharger costs | Automated Supercharger reimbursements | Not automated. You invoice charging on Turo yourself |
| Check-in and check-out | Not described in the sources | File Turo's readings from DriveIt, filled in from the car's tracker or read from a walk-around video |
| Money | Not described in the sources | Profit per car, cost per mile, Turo payouts checked against your bank, and QuickBooks Online |
| How it reaches Turo | Turo's API, which Turo closed to third parties from April 30, 2023 | DriveIt's co-host on your Turo Teams, Turo's emails forwarded from Gmail, and Turo's CSV exports. No API |
How DriveIt works on Turo without an API
You invite DriveIt's co-host on your Turo Teams, the same role a person helping you would have. From there DriveIt imports your cars by VIN, brings Turo messages into your inbox, and files what you ask it to: check-ins and check-outs, tolls, parking locations, calendar blocks, extra miles and late returns.
Your listings, trips and payouts stay on Turo. The Turo logs page in your account lists everything DriveIt sent to Turo and whether it worked, and none of DriveIt's tools contact Turo guests about booking elsewhere.
Moving over from CarSync
Create your host account
Every DriveIt tool is free for the rest of 2026.
Invite DriveIt on Turo Teams and enter your VINs
Your cars come over as drafts, with photos and prices, in about 5 minutes each.
Forward Turo's emails from Gmail
Two settings in Gmail. Earnings, payouts, review answers and toll invoice status flow in.
Import Turo's CSV exports
Your trip history fills in profit per car and the payout check against your bank.
Connect your tracker
Bouncie or MooveTrax, through your own account: readings fill in check-ins, and lock, unlock and horn work on MooveTrax.
Write your scheduled messages
Re-create the pickup and return messages you had in CarSync. They go out on time for every trip.
If you still have exports from CarSync, keep them for your records. DriveIt reads Turo's own exports, not CarSync files.
What DriveIt adds
- Turo check-ins and check-outs filed from DriveIt, with readings from your tracker or a walk-around video.
- Review removal requests: answers drafted for Turo's form on 1 to 4 star reviews, and Turo's decision shown when it comes.
- Turo payouts checked against your bank, and profit per car from Turo's emails and CSVs.
- The guest's license and selfie reviewed against what Turo asks for, then approved or denied from the trip.
- Price Autopilot: rules that re-apply your Turo prices on a schedule. Preview every car and day first; every rule starts off.
- Registration, insurance card and inspection expiry dates read from photos.
- A work list for your mechanic and car wash, who can invoice you and get paid by card.
- Co-hosting agreements and statements for the car owners you manage for.
- Your own booking website, paid into your Stripe account. DriveIt is the only direct booking platform with two-way Turo calendar blocking: a Turo trip closes the dates on your site, and a direct booking blocks the car on Turo.
What DriveIt doesn't do
- Getaround, HyreCar or other marketplaces. DriveIt works with Turo and your own booking site only.
- Tesla Supercharger or EV charging reimbursements. You invoice those on Turo yourself.
- A connection to Tesla or BMW. Trackers are Bouncie and MooveTrax, through your own accounts.
- Insurance. You arrange your own coverage.
