Turo holiday pricing: Thanksgiving, Christmas and events as rules that re-apply themselves
Updated November 6, 2026, 5 minute read
Holiday weeks are when a Turo car earns the most, and when a price typed weeks ahead is most likely to be wrong by the time the dates arrive. This guide sets up holiday pricing as four rules that DriveIt's Price Autopilot re-applies every morning: a last-minute window, Christmas, Thanksgiving and an everyday mark-up. The numbers come from one host's rules; whether they suit your cars and your city is your call, and nothing here promises a result.
Why a holiday price typed in November is gone by December
Turo re-prices your cars every day. A custom price you type on a date stays at your number while Turo's dynamic price for that date keeps moving with demand. Set Christmas week at "double" in early November and by mid-December it may be double an old number, below what Turo would now charge on its own, or both on different days.
A rule doesn't go stale, because it's re-applied each morning against Turo's price that day. The dynamic pricing guide goes through what Turo shows for each date and what a rule does with it.
Percent on top of dynamic, or a fixed price?
"Turo's dynamic price +200%" keeps Turo's view of demand and multiplies it: if Turo sees Christmas Eve as busier than December 28, your price follows. Use it for holidays where you know demand rises but not by exactly how much.
A fixed price holds a number you decided, whatever Turo thinks. Use it for a known event with a known going rate, like a race weekend or a festival with sold-out hotels. Fixed prices go to Turo as one change per car for each run of dates, so keep them to short ranges.
The holiday set, in order
For each car and day, the first rule in the list that covers it sets the price. So the order is the strategy. Here is one host's set, top to bottom:
- Next 3 Days: chosen cars, 0 to 3 days after today, Turo's dynamic price +0%. First, so a last-minute day stays at Turo's own price and never gets a mark-up, holiday or not.
- Christmas: all Turo cars, Dec 18 to Jan 4, Turo's dynamic price +200%.
- Thanksgiving: all Turo cars, Nov 20 to Nov 30, Turo's dynamic price +200%.
- Entire Year: all Turo cars, 3 to 364 days after today, Turo's dynamic price +35%, and it sets the direct booking price too. Last, so it only prices the days nothing above it claimed.
Dates that aren't holidays but behave like one
Spring break, a big game, a conference: add a rule for the date range and place it above the everyday rule, exactly like the holidays. A Monday holiday can ride along with a weekend rule as an always-include date instead of getting a rule of its own. And if cars at one location sell differently, a rule for that location placed above the everyday rule prices them apart. The pricing strategy guide covers each of these.
What a holiday rule can't touch
Days already booked on Turo are skipped, so a guest who booked Thanksgiving in October keeps their price. Days you priced by hand on DriveIt's calendar are left alone unless the rule says it overwrites them. Turo still keeps every day inside the car's own minimum and maximum, so +200% stops at your Turo maximum.
Expect the first run of a big mark-up to stop: if any day would move more than your stop limit (50% by default), the run sends nothing and asks you. Look at the preview, then run it anyway. After that, each morning only moves the days whose Turo price changed.
Watching it work
Preview next run lists every car and day the next run would change, with Turo's current price, its dynamic price and the new one, and sends nothing. Each rule shows how its last run went, and the history keeps what was changed, what was already right and what was skipped, per car and day.
Consecutive days with the same adjustment go to Turo as one date range, so a holiday rule for a whole fleet is a handful of changes, not hundreds.
Questions
When should I turn a holiday rule on?
Any time. A rule only prices days inside its dates, and Turo takes prices up to 365 days ahead, so you can set next Christmas today. Booked days are never changed.
Will +200% go above my car's maximum on Turo?
No. Turo keeps each day inside the car's own minimum and maximum. Raise the maximum on Turo if you want the full mark-up.
Does my direct booking site get the holiday price too?
Only if the rule says so. Each rule can also set the direct price; otherwise your direct prices stay as they are.
Will this earn me more?
No promise. A rule does what it says, every morning, and shows you what it did. Whether +200% is right for your market is your call.
